Loading countdown… until the transition period for Midtown South, Staten Island starts

By Scott Carroll, Chief Human Resources Officer

With Summer quickly approaching, I’d like to take a moment to thank our entire workforce that battled through a difficult winter. Between long periods of frigid temperatures and mountains of snow that refused to melt, our front-line workers, and the teams that support them, did an amazing job of providing our essential services to all our customers every day (and night!). Our team’s unwavering commitment to our values, and each other, is what separates IWS from the competition.

At IWS, we know all too well that it is the consistent dedication and effort from each of our employees that makes our collective success possible. This is why we continue to invest in the business and our people. Through capital investments in our equipment and facilities, as well as the investment in continued growth through acquisitions, we are not just focused on winning today, we are focused on succeeding long into the future. Through investments in learning and development programs, we are focused on upskilling our workforce to meet the evolving challenges we face.

Investing in the right things, and remaining focused on continuous improvement, allows us to better support our employees and continue delivering the reliable essential services our customers count on. As a direct result of continued feedback and collaboration across the organization, we’ve launched initiatives at every level of the organization. Some recent examples include enhanced communication channels, performance management, new training and leadership development programs, department level career pathing and cross training, and employee appreciation events.

One of the areas we continue to focus on is expanding our formal recognition programs to better acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our team members. We launched a new set of IWS Reward and Recognition opportunities on the Awardco platform hosted on our intranet. In addition, we’ve continued to expand our safety challenges as well as our year end employee awards, newly branded as the “Shield Awards.”

As we move further into 2026, we remain focused on investing in our people, improving our operations, and supporting the communities we serve. We appreciate the continued trust of our customers and look forward to serving our communities throughout the year.
