ACTION CARTING FURTHERS BRONX GREEN MIDDLE SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP March 26, 2008. Action Carting Environmental Services, Inc. (“Action”) announced its partnership with Bronx Green Middle School continued with the donation of a shed for the school’s garden club. Bronx Green Middle School is a charter school created during the administration of Mayor Michael Bloomberg and under the leadership of School Chancellor Joel Klein. The partnership was for in the fall when Action CEO Ron Bergamini attended the school as a “principal for a day”. The Principal for a Day program is administered by the non-profit organization PENCIL to bring business leaders and other community leaders into the school system to learn the challenges facing the schools and offer ideas to further education. Ron learned from the “real” school principal, Emily Becker, that the school was particularly proud of its garden club. The garden club tends a garden on the school grounds with a few dozen tools. Ms. Becker explained how much of the club’s time was spent lugging tools into and out of the school. Ron then joined forces with Director of Special Projects, Greg Galietti and a few months later the school had a new shed. In addition to Ron and Greg, Action founder John Glauda attended the dedication ceremony on behalf of Action. The excitement of the students made the whole endeavor worthwhile.
